Project Overview

This project aims to create an application for Pioneer Recreation & Sports Centre. We aim to deliver a seamless and convenient user experience for organising scheduled, and booking activities to get more people to use their recreational facilities.

The app will offer a range of features to help users discover the recreation centre’s activities and book efficiently.

Problems

The Pioneer Recreation & Sports Centre lacks an app for their target audiences and visitors for easy access via mobile phone. Some customers find it hard to book the activities class, which can lead to missed opportunities to participate in events they are interested in.

Solution

Develop a comprehensive recreation centre app with easy access to facility information, programs, and services, by providing a seamless user experience, the app will include the following features:

  • User-friendly interface: A visually appealing and intuitive interface.
  • Facility information: Detailed information about amenities, class schedules, and special events.
  • Online booking: Users can conveniently book classes, and reserve facilities directly through the app.
  • Feedback and rating system: A built-in feature will allow users to provide feedback, rate classes, and share their experiences, promoting community engagement.

Project Goals

Our goal is to increase the number of visitors to the Pioneer Recreation & Sports Centre while ensuring users have a seamless and easy booking experience through the App.

User Testing _ 1

By conducting user testing with our target users, we gain valuable insights that help us understand their behaviour and expectations. Through observation of their interactions with the app, we enhance our understanding and can design experiences that genuinely meet their needs.

user-testing-2

Positive Feedbacks

  • Bright colour scheme, clean design with fun athlete characters.
  • It is quick to go to the schedule page to view the current bookings.
  • The navigation through the app and buttons set up each step is simple and easy to use.

Negative Feedbacks

  • Some of the buttons had to be clicked on twice.
  • Should add “Review Rating” scale and “Favourite “ features.
  • Consider including an option where users can select how many people to join the activities.

Implementing Feedback

To enhance user convenience, we have introduced an avatar feature that lets users view their upcoming bookings easily. This feature allows users to access and manage their scheduled appointments quickly.

To enhance user convenience, we have introduced an avatar feature that lets users view their upcoming bookings easily. This feature allows users to access and manage their scheduled appointments quickly.

To optimise user experience, we have reorganised the options on the home page, placing them in a more logical order. This adjustment ensures that users can easily navigate and access the most relevant features and information without any confusion. By rearranging the options, we aim to provide a seamless and intuitive user interface that enhances usability and overall satisfaction.

User Testing _ 2

After implementing modifications to the app, we conducted a second round of user testing to gather feedback from our target audiences once again. This iterative approach guarantees that our designs not only perform as intended but also resonate with the expectations and preferences of our users. Ultimately, user testing empowers us to develop a more user-centric and impactful product.

User testing

Positive Feedbacks

  • Amazing colour palette, effective design, clean and crisp.
  • It was incredibly simple. It took me exactly where I wanted to go.
  • I like the interaction on those activity icons. It makes this app look nice.

Negative Feedbacks

  • Should change how to show the date, and add the day name.
  • Will be better to show more activity information.
  • Rearrange the options on the home page to the most logical order.

Implementing Feedback

We added a class description feature. This addition allows users to access detailed information about each class, giving them a comprehensive overview of what to expect. Users can make more informed decisions and select classes that align with their preferences and goals by including class descriptions.

Based on valuable feedback from user testing, we have improved by incorporating the day name, such as “Friday 18th August,” in addition to the date. This change enhances clarity and makes it easier for users to identify the day of the week for each activity quickly.
